January 2014

We spent most of the time packing and unpacking trying to get everything in that we thought would fit in the car. And going to the dentist and doctor to get everything in order for entry into the mission training on Feb. 8th.

But we did get away after the temple closed.

We spent a couple of days in SLC getting Rich’s white suits and stuff for the temple.

Then we spent several days with Myra & Deon in Gilbert. Myra is Sandra's sister. They have been call to serve a mission in Leeds England.

We attended the open house for the new Gilbert Temple while we were there.

We were also able to visit with the Worthens from our mission in Africa.

Then we spent one day with Brent & Lorraine. Sorry, no photos. Just a good visit.

Then off to spend a few days with Jacki in Reno and see our new GREAT Grand Daughter. Can you believe that? We have a daughter that will be called grandma???? That’s pretty scary.

We spent one day up in Virginia City.

Then we went back to SLC for Lee & Nancy’s farewell. Lee is Sandra’s brother. They have been called to serve a mission in the Central America Area as Church Auditors.

We had planned to go back down to Arizona for another week but my aunt Helen passed away suddenly so we decided to head for home.

Good thing we did. Packing turned out to be a lot more work than we thought it would be.

The next blog will be our training in the Bountiful Temple for our mission. We are looking forward to that.

October Thru December 2013

A lot has happened in the past 3 months.

We will try to make this brief and interesting.

First big thing that happened in October was our Kenya Nairobi Mission Reunion. It was great to see a lot of the friends we made while serving there. Not many young missionaries came but a lot of the “old”. We met at Pres. Broadbent’s home for an afternoon of visiting and good food.

The mission yell.

Watching the video Rich made.

Then that evening we met at a church in Farmington for the full reunion.

Elder Sitati of the 70 was there and spoke to us. Afterwards he was greeting each of the couples and asking if they were going to serve another mission. We told him we had already submitted our papers. He got really excited and asked if we wanted to go back to Africa. What could we say to him? Sandra really did not want to but didn’t have the courage to tell him that. He wanted our phone number and said he would call in the morning and make sure we would go back to Africa. We were hoping and praying that our call was already in the mail and NOT to Africa. I think Rich would have been okay with Africa. Especially if it were in the Accra Ghana Temple.

About the 10th of Oct. we received our call to the Washington D.C. Temple.

Sandra was really excited and glad that we were not going back to Africa.

The next big event was the Dinner Club Cruise the end of October - first part of November.  We went on the Panama Canal Cruise from L.A. around to Miami. 14 days. It was GREAT!!

We ended up after everyone invited friends and relatives with 16 people going.

We were able to get tickets to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert.

Sandra played with the Bell Choir in a Christmas Program held in a Stake Center in Rexburg.

Our annual New Year's Eve Party with the Dinner Club.
Not many of us around this time of year anymore.

All in all, a great year.

Trip to St. George with Joan and Larry. We went to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre and saw Thoroughly Modern Millie and Disney’s Mary Poppins.

Time to sell the Goldwing. I guess our cycle traveling time is over.

Still working in the temple.

We are enjoying our time at home with family, but we feel we need to serve another mission.
We will submit paperwork next month. Watch for the results.
