Month of September 2016

Sept. 3rd we attended Kari's Wedding up at the Treasure Mountain Scout Camp. She was the wife of Corbin Snedaker, a nephew. He passed away last year.
Very interest venue for a wedding. We helped serve the dinner.

Sept. 7th was our annual Blue Ridge Picnic. A picnic for the neighborhood where we live. Turned out very good. A little cool as the evening set in. But great to meet with friends and neighbors. We were to provide the home made root beer. Turned out to be a real challenge. (A story for another time.)

Sept. 10th we attended the local Symphony in the Park with our friends the Wards.

Sept. 12th - 13th was our WDC Mission Reunion. The first event was held at the Alpine Art Center in Alpine, Utah. We were able to tour the facility and see how they produce bronze art for many well recognized artists.

It was great to see many of the missionaries we served with in the WDC Temple.

Then the next day we attended the Provo City Temple.

Then a chapel meeting. It was a great 2 days.

We spent most of the week with the our friends the Moyles from our WDC mission.

We went to a couple of really good movies. Scully and Florence Foster Jenkins.

Went to the temple in Payson on the 14th.

Went to Manti for a day.

There we were able to attend a session with our friends the Cooks from our WDC mission.

On the way back to SLC we visited the Slades in Mount Pleasant

Then we stayed at Hal & Debbie’s even though they were not there. They had family reunion on Lake Powell.

Sept. 17th we attended a wedding reception for Sandra’s cousin’s son. After which we headed for home.

Sept. 20th went over to the Jensen’s in Kimberly to get corn. They took us all over the area and in addition to getting corn we got potatoes, tomatoes, peaches, pears and all kinds of stuff. Could hardly get it all in our car.

Sept. 27th we attended the Star Valley Temple open house with our daughter Janna. She was able to see one of the missionaries that had worked with her here in Idaho Falls.

Sorry about the lack of photos. I think Rich is loosing his touch on photo taking. Maybe just too lazy.

Month of August 2016

Crazy month. I guess we are getting old. Several of our close friends have spent time in the hospital this month. But, knock on wood, our health is still good.

Sandra’s cousin Ken Clifford brought his parent’s ashes over from Boise to have buried in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery here in Idaho Falls.

We had a great day with them. Party at our home.

Sandra had her 71st birth day and it was not as traumatic as her 70th.

We went to the Playmill Theatre in West Yellowstone. We saw the show Dancing in the Rain. It was great!!

Attended our annual neighborhood picnic.

This is a candy cannon. It shoots about 5 pounds of candy per shot.

The kids loved it.

Wedding reception of McKay Harper a missionary from our Africa mission.

And there we met some friends we haven’t seen for about 30 years. Gary & Linda Larsen.

Had an interesting evening with our “Empty Nesters” group. We had a fireside on the geology of Yellowstone Park. Very informative and entertaining.

Summer is over for us. The nights are really cold now and we usually have a frost the first part of September. So our garden and flowers will soon be gone.

Month of July 2016

We had an enjoyable 4th of July. We went to the parade to see 2 of our grand-daughters. Janeal walked with the student council float for her high school and Tawnya walked with the Dr. Slaughter Haunted House float. It is a D.A.R.E. program where she will dance at the spook alley. Forgot to take a camera and Rich’s phone was dead. Sorry, no photos.
Then we had lunch with some friends and played games.
Then we attended the fireworks that night. Idaho Falls supposedly has the best fireworks west of the Mississippi. The owner of the Melaleuca company sponsors them and he really goes all out.

Re-stained the deck

Went to a dance recital for our grand-daughter Janeal.

She went to China with her dance group on an exchange program. She stayed with the family of one of the girls that stayed with her family here in America.

Danced on the Great Wall
and had a great time there in China.

We attended the wedding of one of our dinner club friends.

Had several get togethers with friends in our ward.

But the big event of the month was our family reunion. We went to Cherry Hill Water Park in Kaysville, Utah for the first day.

Then up to the cabin of a cousin of Sandra’s for dinner the next day. It is way up in the mountains north of Park City.

Then on to the Heber Valley Camp for a 2 day campout.

We really had a GREAT time together.

Month of June 2016

Not much of interest going on in our lives these days. Hopefully next month will pick up.

We had a “Game Night” with Friends in our Ward. Played a game where we had to tell something about ourselves that the others probably wouldn’t know.

Had a Dinner Club get together. That’s the group we have been friends with since we all started having children.

Sandra’s aunt Erma passed away May 29th and the family had an open house over in Boise. We attended that on June 11th. We have kept in touch with Erma but not with her family. We had a great time getting acquainted with all of them. Several of Sandra’s brothers were there.

We decided to commemorate our son Shawn’s birthday with a family dinner and launch sky lanterns. The dinner went well but typical Idaho weather, it was too windy for sky lanterns.

One of our friends in the dinner club had a fence that had fallen down, so we all got together and put up a new one.

Sandra couldn't resist peeking over the side fence. We used to live next door.

One of our tasks lately is to run the grand kids around while there mother (Joy) works at her new job in Blackfoot (25 miles away). And one of the more enjoyable ones (outside of dentist and such) was Tyson’s Swimming Lessons.

Then we attended our monthly Empty Nesters’ night. Which was actually a visit to our previous bishop’s new home. A big beautiful home with a movie room almost like a theater. We enjoyed one of the church videos.

We are enjoying our back yard and next month we'll show you what we've done with the deck.
