February 7th to 22nd 2014

On Saturday we checked into the Radisson Hotel in SLC where we stayed during our training. We are not used to that nice of a hotel. We were on the 15th floor and had a beautiful view of north SLC.
Can you see the temple?

We did not start training until Monday so we went to church with Hal & Debbie. That evening we attended the setting apart of Lee & Nancy for their mission to the Central America Area.

Our training was in the Bountiful Temple due to the SLC Temple being closed for cleaning. We were there with 8 other couples and 1 single sister. 2 of the couples are also going to the Washington D.C. Temple Mission. Training was great. Bro. & Sister Walker are the trainers. They were Pres. & Matron of the SLC Temple prior to this calling. She is a daughter of Pres. Hinckley. They gave us some really interesting incites on our service full time in a temple.

On Thursday morning we headed out for Washington D.C. There was a storm predicted and we debated whether to stay over for another day. But Rich felt we should take off. We were ahead of the storm all the way.

Our first stop was in Cheyenne. We stopped for gas and when Sandra opened the door the wind almost took the door off. If there had not been a post there to protect the pump that the door hit, it would have take the door off.
We went to the Cheyenne Depot Museum and saw a really neat model railroad layout.

Next stop was at Kyle & Donna’s in Omaha. Kyle is Sandra’s brother. We stayed there 4 days and had a great visit with them. We were even able to attend the temple there. We also toured the Visitor Center and Cemetery.

On Tuesday we headed out for St. Louis. Stopped off on the way to see the Liberty Jail.

And the Kansas City Temple.

Stopped by the St. Louis Temple.

Stayed Tuesday night in St. Louis

Drove hard all the next day and stayed that night in Columbus, Ohio.

Thursday we arrived at our apartment in Kensington, MD.
Friday we met with the Temple President and were set apart.
Saturday we spent trying to get our apartment arranged so it would feel like home. A really quite nice apartment, small but adequate.
